best pack ever!!! Review by dreaminsilver

dreaminsilver 4/7/2015

picked one up this last weekend- save your self the time and just buy one, this thing is unbelievable-everything is literally at your finger tips and you can wear it for 10 hours and hardly know you have it on... the Velcro on the inside should be a little better to hang on to the float holder and tippet holder, other then that the thing is a 10!!

Best fanny bag on the market to date! Review by Nibbs

Nibbs 7/21/2014

Been using a variety of bags for over 15 years now. Used today for day long outing and works great. Resolved past issues of previous Simms bags with water bottle management (rather lack of storage altogether), access, zipper quality, and comfort! Also bettered zip line fastening, placement, and overall bag/pocket organization. Way to go Simms, keep up the R and D and keep improving. Suggestions as far as day one goes: inside Velcro bonding could be better, access to inner flap pocket could be made easier, and location of zipper to main pocket and forceps pocket on side location could use greater separation to avoid conflict when opening.

Best I have tried Review by Brian

Brian 6/24/2014

I found this pack at the Denver Fly Fishing show in Jan 2014. I tried it on and kicked the tires so to speak and had to have it. First of all admittedly I carry way to much stuff with me so this pack fit the bill of one that could carry it all. I carry two large Simms foam fly boxes and 3 anglers image thin magnetic boxes full of midges. This has room for all those and then some. I really like the fact you can put a liter of water in the pouch on the bottom as well as roll up a windbreaker and strap it down there too.

My only complaints are the velcro on the tippet holder and floatant holder are getting weaker by the day. I will try hot gluing some real velcro on there and see if that works.

I still give it 5 stars because it carry's a ton, rides very well and doesn't feel cumbersome due to weight since it does carry so well. I would buy it all over again.

The best pack with a few minor issues... Review by Brett

Brett 4/13/2014

Best pack in the industry. I guide 75% of the time walk/wade style, so I go through a fair number of packs, and am always interested in the next best thing. Well, the headwaters is the best, tons of storage. Page style setup is awesome but,,, what happened to the velcro on the inside? That stuff couldn't hold up an empty bottle of gink, let alone tippet spools. Needs to be stickier/real deal velcro. The holder for the bottles themselves are suspect. Lost a bottle of dry dust pretty quick when velcroed to the outside of the pack. Consequently I used a piece of paracord for a tippet holder, on the outside of the pack, located on the hip/side, horizontal in orientation to avoid hang ups from typical vertical tippet ''t''. Bottles of gink and dry dust are watched carefully or put inside the g4z pockets now. Could also use more storage on the inside where the velcro is located.

Not a suitcase, but plenty of space Review by Jon

Jon 4/8/2014

First off, The options on the market for a pack large enough to hold everything you need while guiding is slim. I always have a hard time with packs that just dont quite hold enough. After some configuration of contents, everything I need fits well into this pack. I love the little features inside of it..from a little tippet holder to and awesome lumbar support. This pack is super comfortable and sits well on the body. Probably the best Ive found yet, at a great price too!
