Simms' men's Kinetic Jacket is a warm companion in the biting cold predawn hours when the dark waters are dancing with hungry fish. PrimaLoft® Gold insulation packs in warmth without adding bulk. Polartec® Wind Pro® stretch-fleece in the underarm and body panels ventilates and supports a range of motion, accommodating any cast you can manage to toss. A soft, lined hand warmer pocket keeps your fingers nimble and comfortable enough to patiently tie on a series of flies and finally land that picky trout. The jacket is finished with an insulated storm hood and water-resistant coating.
All Simms outerwear features nylon YKK® zippers to minimize corrosion and provide high performing, durable wear.
Primaloft® Gold insulation maintains 90% of its warmth when wet and provides the highest warmth to weight ratio of any synthetic insulation available.
Polartec® Wind Pro® enhances breathability and increases range of motion for making casts that count.
Machine wash and rinse in cold water, gentle cycle.Tumble dry low, remove promptly. Do not dry clean, bleach, iron or steam.
To maintain loft do not store compacted. Primaloft® is easy to care for especially when compared to down.

Fall is arriving here and this jacket with a Simms shirt and coldweather pants, is all I need.

I received the jacket yesterday and I really liked it. Once I put it on I noticed the pocket zippers did not have zipper pulls. The cuffs on the arms stretched out after one use. Will be exchanging it.

Love this jacket. Slick and easily tucks under waders. Moves naturally with my body, does not feel bulky. Water beads off it. Keeps me warm and chilly temps and wind. Great for spring or fall fishing. Very happy with it and love the soft material and hood.

This is a great layering piece. The outer material is very slick and slides under your gore two shell with no binding like you get from fleece. The insulation is good, really good. I haven't had the chance to test the claims that is retains 96% heat while wet because I'm pretty careful about having my rain smell ready at the first hint of rain.
It fits pretty true to size with a fit on the slimmer side. I wouldn't expect to put much more than a thick base layer beneath it, but I would not thing you would need too much.
The stretchier material under the arms really does work, I would say one of the best things about the jacket is the absolute freedom of movement. No restrictions on movement at all,m very comfortable.
My lost stars are due to the fact that it is made in China instead of Montana. I'm worried Simms is going to start making all of their gear in China and then the quality will slips like many other brands. Simms has a premium price m

Being a huge fan if Simms I was so excited to purchase this jacket. It's the perfect fall jacket up here in Michigan. If I recall I bought this jacket in September and by January the pocket zipper has broken on right side as well as the Simms logo on upper left chest has been peeling off. All in all another great product from Simms. I don't think there's a day that goes by when I don't have some sort of Simms clothing on....

A great jacket for walk and wade or rowing the boat. It's not to heavy or bulky but it keeps you warm. Works out great with a rain jacket over it for real bad weather.

I really wanted to like this jacket but it continues to disappoint. The inside of the pocket which is a double layer of thin fabric blew out somehow after the first few times in use (fishing), the zippers on the pockets constantly snag the jacket when trying to close and the cuffs on the arms which are a stretchy fleece are too thick, bunch up and have stretched out with only maybe a dozen days wear. :(

Weatehr can be unpredictable here int eh Eastern Sierras of California. You might wake up to a 7º morning and be fishing in 60º by noon.
Throw on a Simms Solarflex baselayer, and this coat, and you'll be good all day.
It is light weight, compressible, and is comfortable iin a wide range of weather conditions. Great for backpacking, skiing, and of course washing your flies.

This jacket does it all! I love it as a layering system as well as by itself.

Balancing insulation, layers and outwear can be a tough and frustrating. The kinetic has thus far gone a long way to solving this problem. With minimal layering, Insulation and breathability seem just right in a 30 degree wind or 50 degree sunny day, and all variables in between, including light rain. You will still need a shell in a downpour. The fit, stretchy panels, and sleeve length did not make much sense to me in the store, even feeling a bit constrictive, but once in the field this jacket literally molds to your body and moves perfectly with every action whether casting, rowing or scrambling over rocks. The kinetic layers nicely under a pair of waders with almost no additional bulk. When worn, the hood is lightweight, barely noticeable and the edges stay out of your field of view, all while adding significant warmth. This is not a coat for walking down Main Street, but on the river it’s one sweet piece.
