Poor Design

Toan, 7/15/2016

Its impossible to remove the old metal tip. Per the other reviews, I call the customer service department and they recommended that I put the metal tip in hot water to loosen up the adhesive. I'll let you know in about 10 minutes once I wait for my water to start boiling.

Suggestion is that you ship without the tip on the staff rod. Then let the user put it on. I'd also suggest just shipping both the metal and the rubber tips.

Terrible design.

[Simms Pro Desk]

Thank you for you straightforward review, Toan. I would recommend using a large pair of pliers to loosen this metal tip. You will need quite a bit of torque to get that loose, as this is to insure it will not fall out while in the field. If this does not solve your dilemma please feel free to give us a call at 1-800-217-4667 so we can troubleshoot further.

It's of no use

Christian, 8/14/2015

Today I have bought the Wading Staff Alu and the Rubber Tip. There is no chance to connect both without damaging the staff.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Christian

P.S.: Retailer is Flyfishing Europe (Germany)

Useless

Jussi, 6/26/2015

This is a good idea, but i cant remove original tips without broken the wading staff.

So if you can not use/change this rubber tips, it is useless.

[Response from Simms Customer Care Team] - Thanks for the feedback Jussi. Please contact our Customer Care Department at 888-585-3570. We can help you find a solution to this but need a little more information.

Rubber wading tips

Rich, 5/8/2015

Only one star because they are untestable. The metal tips cannot be removed from the wading staff without ripping a bicep. If Simms provides instructions on tip removal and installation. I could reevaluate.

Needs instructions

Rich, 5/8/2015

Removal of original tip is near impossible without damaging shaft. They might be great, but they need to be installable. A tip sheet is required for successful installation. Rating could go up if I could install them.

Porely engineered

none, 12/13/2014

Once installed when the staff is collapsed it will on longer slide in and out of the carry case. As a matter of fact it is very difficult to pull the staff out of the case. You need to redesign the rubber time to me no larger then the metal tip or increase the size of the carry case. I hade taken mine off and reinstalled the OE metal tip
