Many of the most rewarding flats missions involve little more than an ankle-deep stroll on an incoming tide. There you'll find numerous underwater microenvironments: from white sand to coral, volcanic rock, and lemon shark infested turtle grass. But no matter where your feet land the Flats Sneaker keeps you within casting range, with over-the-ankle coverage and Schoeller®-dynatec panels for unmatched support and puncture resistance.
Schoeller® NanoSphere® - the nanotech-based finishing technology allows dirt and water to simply run off the surface of the textiles. This mimics the natural self-cleaning effect of certain plants whose leaves always remain clean, because dirt simply cannot adhere to the finely structured surface, and is easily washed off when it rains.
For proper cleaning of your footwear to descrease the likelihood of spreading Aquatic Invasive Species, please reference our CleanStream™ page.
If using in saltwater always clean and rinse to prevent corrosion.
Use a brush to remove dust and dirt. Choose an old vegetable brush or toothbrush. For maximum thoroughness, remove laces prior to cleaning. Use specialized boot cleaner, saddle soap or maybe a mild dishwashing soap with luke-warm water.
Do not use bar soap or detergents.
Do not place wet boots close to a heat source (fireplace, campfire, wood stove, radiator, heater, sunny windowsill) as this can weaken adhesives and cause materials to become brittle or shrink.
Dry using natural methods (air dry) and try to keep them out of the sun for long periods of time. Boots dry faster when positioned upside-down. If desired, stuff a sheet or two of newspaper into each boot to absorb moisture. Change the paper each hour.
If you see any mold on your boots, brush in a mixture of 80% water and 20% vinegar.
Over time the use of leather conditioners may provide increased water repellency and can prevent cracking and drying of the leather.
Store footwear in a place where temperatures are stable and normal. Do not store footwear in attics, garages, car trunks or any unventilated spaces.
Never put footwear in washing machine.

I used the older model with waders for surf fishing in California. Regular boots too wide for me. The boots were a mess after a few winters. Simms replaced them with the new ones. They are great. Sturdier, better fit, lacing, loop on back. Just a great product. Thanks Simms.

Not much good to say about these over priced flats boots and I've blown out 3 pairs in 3 seasons on the flats.
1st to go are the metal eyelets / come on why are these metal not webbing?
2nd must wear socks and cuffs to keep out the debris on the flats.
3rd toe material breaks down, shoe goo a must.
100 days max in the salt.

Durable and comfortable boots. Wading over oyster beds for a year and still looks new. However, it has poor grip on rocks. Made a mistake of using it on concrete and rip-rap and had a good tumble. Fortunately no broken bones, just bad cuts. Now I use it only on sand/mud flats and oyster beds.

Most of the Simms products I have owned stand up to hard use in the field. With the Flats Sneakers this was not the case. After only two months of moderate use on grass and sand flats the synthetic leather material(outer shell) started to peel off in big chunks. All my attempts to contact Simms to rectify the situation resulted in no reply.

I fish the Seychelles every year and have to rely on good flats boots due to the harsh nature of the rocks and the long distances we wade.
I bought these boots in March this year. The boots are comfortable and light but the sole cuts up easily and the stitching on the toe of the boot frays. This results in the front rubber parting from the main boot. I took it back to my suppliers in RSA in April and they promised to get a replacement - now they have been informed by SIMMS (so I am told) that they will only receive replacement stock in March 2015 !!!
Now I am left with very few choices - either go on my next trip in 2 weeks time with the same boots and hope they don't fail, buy the Ocean Tek boot and hope it works (oh and spend another $190) or go to another manufacturer!!!
I own tons of SIMMS products and generally they are great but this delay on sorting out my problem is making me rethink where my loyalties should be.

I've been using these boot for 2 years and they are comfortable out of the box. They are durable, I've used them for guiding here in Hawaii and wore them in christmas island for week of fishing.

As a guide and hard core flyfisherman, I have fished the flats of Mosquito Lagoon, Fl keys and the Bahamas for many years and have found these flats sneakers the most effective footwear overall found anywhere.

Wear these boots exclusively in the Texas Mid-Coast bays. Went from booties to these lace-up and find the security of the lacing system as their greatest asset. My toes tended to slide, then compress into the end of the boot after a day of wading causing a large amount of discomfort. With the laces drawn tight, this does not happen. Sized up for waders and when wearing my G3 waders and when using more layers for winter wading, I take out the sole to gain extra volume. My boots do smell, but that's not SImms' fault!

I bought a pair to fish the beaches of southwest florida this past May. Great shoe/sneaker. Very comfortable, secure, excellent support, best I have had thus far. Before fishing with them I broke them in walking the pup which I would reccommend. A little stiff when brand new. Right now thay are my boat shoes, again very .secure in wet enviroments. I would only suggest that if you are wearing them in the surf, keep the top snug, I did, had no issues with sand/debris getting in. I did wear a pair of thin athletic socks, thinking of getting the neoprene socks for the cooler waters of the northeast. I considered all others, I feel I made the right choice. Also, rinsed them with fresh water after every saltt water trip, dried quickly, no odor, no issues at all . Quality Stuff.
