Forgot one thingIt's great that you can change on which side to strap the rod. Thanks’ from all of us lefties.
A fantastic backpack for real fishingI use this backpack for my Sea trout fishing along the Swedish south coast. The waterproof design makes it work in practice when you are wading all day long. The zipper makes a huge difference compared to a rolled up top. You have much better access to your stuff than in a rolled up top backpack where everything is just pushed down.
The shoulder straps is thoroughly designed so it’s not wearing when casting. The belly strap is perfect for your fly line basket. The roll up strap-retainer is brilliant.
Some tips for the 2.0 of this great product. The pads in the back holds water, which draws heat from your back. Not nice when it’s cold. The outer material on the pads should be water proof. Many backpack makers make the same mistake. Put some D-rings a little bit down on the shoulder straps. Or some other solution to attach stuff. If you want to attach a holder for a full size pliers you need to use zip around the whole shoulder strap. It works but it looks like a bodge. The integrated holder is to small for a regular plier like a Hatch nomad or Gerber magniplier. The big Velcro patch on top seems like bells and whistles. Who put a fly patch there?
One word! Wow!I purchased this strictly for my fall fishing for salmon and steelhead. I have owned multiple backpacks over the past 30 years of salmon and steelhead fishing. This backpack is comfy, has adequate space for all my gear and most importantly, it is waterproof! The T zipper system on the backpack is superb to say the least! I look forward to many years of dry gear with this baby!!
