Gale force defense system, powered by GORE-TEX® Pro Shell fabric Simms' redesigned ProDry™ Jacket is 25 percent lighter for enhanced stowability. While proven waterproof, durable Pro Shell fabric sets the performance standard for oceanic endeavors to the pro bass tour. Optimized architecture includes high-capacity zippered chest pockets, secured with water repellent YKK® AQUAGUARD® VISLON® zippers. Micro fleece lined-pockets thaw hardworking hands. Dry Cuff™ engineering blocks water at the sleeve. And the Cohaesive™ cord lock system intuitively manages internal adjustments, simplifying the act of cinching comfort in. Finally, duck a deluge inside the Tuck-away 3-point adjustable Storm Hood, which keeps water out and wears well with a hat.
GORE-TEX® PRO SHELL outerwear is waterproof, exceptionally lightweight and offers the ultimate in breathability, durability and extended comfort. Constructed with a woven backer, GORE-TEX® Pro Shell garments slide easily over other layers and offer exceptional tear strength and internal abrasion-resistance.
YKK's AQUASEAL® is a light weight waterproof zipper. Combining Vislon® techonology with a seal in between the zipper elements, AQUASEAL® allows easy and smooth operation with 100% protection against the elements.
Cleaning your GORE-TEX® garments regularly will extend the life of the product. It will also keep them breathable as dirt and oil can clog the GORE-TEX® membrane over time.
It is critical to wash jackets. Natural oils can damage the GORE-TEX® tape and adhesives causing a peeling effect.
Machine wash warm. Do not use fabric softener or bleach.
Remember to zip all pockets and close all Velcro cuffs before washing to prevent any damage caused by the machine.
Tumble dry on warm setting making sure not to use a high heat setting. Drying on warm will actually reactivate the DWR coating.

Wore mine yesterday for the 1st time in heavy rain. Phone in left hand chest zipped-up pocket - soaked. Car keys/blipper in right hand zipped-up pocket - soaked. Sunglasses in soft case in lower zipped up-pocket - soaked.
If i wanted a jacket that performs that badly, I cold have got one for $50 not $500! Money wasted as far as I'm concerned, if I could take it back, I would. I was thining about using it for salt water too but it would have wrecked my phone if the pockets got splashed with salt water.
Simms, I'd like to hear your response please.
And, what's the point of a retained glasses cleaning cloth in one of the pockets which gets wet when it rains? Or a sight glass for your watch, which steams up?

I have heard that this product is exceptional. Can I get one without the SIMMS written on the back? I have no problem spending 500 for a jacket but do not want to be a walking billboard.

This is a great jacket. From the start I had very high expectations on this piece due to brand name, material and price. My expectations were exceeded. The jacket is light, good looking, branding is more low key and its absolutely water tight. I tried it out in really heavy rain and wind for about an hour and it kept me 100% dry.
As with other Simms products I have ordered in the past, I found the sizes to be very large. If you are a Large, my suggestion is to order a Medium. It fits me perfectly and with room to fit a fleece layer underneath.
All in all, very high quality stuff Simms (& Gore Tex).
