GORE-TEX® fishing fortress, with guide-approved architecture inside and out For 2015, the all-new G3 Guide™ Jacket is 25 percent lighter, while ratcheting performance thanks to rugged, rip-stopping 3-layer GORE-TEX® Shell fabric. Guide-tested including 2 large top-loaded fly boxes pockets and zippered chest, internal stash, and micro fleece-lined hand-warmer pockets. The stowable 3-point Storm Hood adjusts to fight the fiercest downpour. And proven Dry Cuffs™ keep water out of the sleeves when tailing, and releasing, fish.
GORE-TEX® Performance Shell outerwear is waterproof, lightweight, durable and breathable. It’s designed to provide excellent, long-lasting performance in a wide range of conditions.
YKK's AQUASEAL® is a light weight waterproof zipper. Combining Vislon® techonology with a seal in between the zipper elements, AQUASEAL® allows easy and smooth operation with 100% protection against the elements.
Cleaning your GORE-TEX® garments regularly will extend the life of the product. It will also keep them breathable as dirt and oil can clog the GORE-TEX® membrane over time.
It is critical to wash jackets. Natural oils can damage the GORE-TEX® tape and adhesives causing a peeling effect.
Machine wash warm. Do not use fabric softener or bleach.
Remember to zip all pockets and close all Velcro cuffs before washing to prevent any damage caused by the machine.
Tumble dry on warm setting making sure not to use a high heat setting. Drying on warm will actually reactivate the DWR coating.

As the winter storms hit, the jacket is perfect. I stayed dry in the rain, and great wind barrier over insulation when ice is forming on the rod guides. The tool attachment points and big pockets let me ditch my Simms sling pack halfway through the day,

Had an original G3 for years. I took excellent care of it and it saved my life more than once winter fishing in salt water. The zippers started to fail, actually the attachment points of the zippers. Simms replaced the jacket instead of a repair. I have said many times that this jacket is the absolute best piece of gear I own. After the latest experience with Simms I immediately purchased new Simms waders, boots, and 4 shirts from my local fly shop. You people seriously rock!!

Runs a bit small. I usually take a large. XL much better fit.
Perfect top layer, keeps wind and rain at bay.
What would be cool is to have vertical zippers on the outside of the vest pockets. I found myself constantly wanting to put my hands into the pockets from that direction

I own the previous generation G3, but it seems that this new version suffers from the same problem. my G3 has been a fantastic jacket and has kept me dry as a bone over the past few years. But, the thing that bothers me the most is for how expensive the jacket is, it does not include vents under the arms or anywhere else. Up here in Alaska, it can go from cold and wet in the morning to sunny and end the day with a downpour. I believe a venting system would allow people to wear the jacket all day instead of taking it on and off because of overheating.

Wonderful jacket, does everything asked of it . Long hike with rain and high humidity and I was still dry . My high end ski jacket can't do that ,I would be soaked from the inside out.
