Your problems fade away the moment your line hits the water, but the storm around you might still carry on. When you plunge into the cold current, protect yourself like a pro from the outside elements with Simms' men's G4 Pro® Jacket. Durable and lightweight GORE-TEX® and water-tight cuffs give you a waterproof seal that keeps you dry, even as you reach into the drink letting a fighter wriggle free. Stash every piece of tackle in your arsenal in nine intuitive and spacious pockets, including an oversized back compartment. A packable Storm Hood adjusts to keep out the fiercest downpour.
GORE-TEX® PRO SHELL outerwear is waterproof, exceptionally lightweight and offers the ultimate in breathability, durability and extended comfort. Constructed with a woven backer, GORE-TEX® Pro Shell garments slide easily over other layers and offer exceptional tear strength and internal abrasion-resistance.
The AquaGuard® VISLON® zipper is a revolutionary new design from the global leader in containment closures. The AquaGuard® VISLON® zipper's new tooth design provides enhanced fluid repellency vs. coil or standard individual element closures, while increasing the number of design and color options for your application.
Cleaning your GORE-TEX® garments regularly will extend the life of the product. It will also keep them breathable as dirt and oil can clog the GORE-TEX® membrane over time.
It is critical to wash jackets. Natural oils can damage the GORE-TEX® tape and adhesives causing a peeling effect.
Machine wash warm. Do not use fabric softener or bleach.
Remember to zip all pockets and close all Velcro cuffs before washing to prevent any damage caused by the machine.
Tumble dry on warm setting making sure not to use a high heat setting. Drying on warm will actually reactivate the DWR coating.

After years of steelhead fishing in less then ideal clothing in rainy BC I finally splurged and bought a G-4 jacket last year! Superb comfort and warmth left me convinced that the high price tag was worth it. Have recently purchased a matching set of waders and can’t wait to try them out.

Main pockets leaked with the bottom pooling with water, wetting fly box and camera (luckily waterproof).
Anyone else have this problem?

Use this thing in Alaska as a summer guide on the Naknek. Kept me warm and dry. Used it daily and very happy. If/when this one wears out will buy another. Has my full recommendation. One tip is to consider buying one size larger than usual. You will want a loose fit for layers under and throwing a rod. Get over the price and buy it.

First, three pockets on top of each other, makes them bulk up when all three are full.
Second, the flaps of the top pockets have 4 velcro pieces, that make them very difficult to open. I can't see those flaps opening if they only had one piece of velcro.

Bought this jacket for a trip to northern Canada to fish in rain and chilly weather for big pike. I was concerned about the price, but once I realized I was the only one dry and warm I realized that I would have paid double for it. This jacket is engineered in every respect. There is nothing on it or not on it that hasn't been carefully thought through.
You can find cheaper jackets. But they won't be as light weight, as comfortable, as impervious to the weather, as easy to load up with gear and stay organized and as all round quality as this one.
If you don't believe that, find someone who has one. Borrow it, get in a boat and go 35 mph into the wind on a 42 F day with a driving rain coming down on you. I did. As soon as you think, "I'm warm and I'm dry" you will know you're going to have a great day fishing and you're going to be glad you had the G4 Pro jacket.
Then all you have to do is convince all your wet and cold buddies not to go back to the cabin.

Could you make a dark gunmetal camo one? Would be an awesome addition and i would definitely want one!

The overall quality of material and workmanship appears to be excellent. It would be nice if there were a couple of loops on the jacket to attach a Boga Grip or stringer. There really is no where on the exterior of the jacket to attach anything. Maybe we'll see it on the next version.

Pyramid lake truckee river NV , 1/12/2015
I purchased this coat for the water tight wrist cuffs and something to save me from the elements. As far as I'm concerned this jacket paid for itself on the first outing. I landed a 15 lb cutthroat out from pyramid lake NV on a windy and cold day. While landing and releasing the cutt, I submerged my arms multiple times. At day's end my inner layers where dry and I was warm... A very small amount of water did get through, a very very small amount. I don't know how many winter days I called it quit because of getting my arms wet. Kept the wind and cold out. This jacket is top of the line... A win win. Small price to pay to stay dry and warm. Wish I could of had this jackets years ago. Nut up and get it.

In over forty years of professional fly angling i believe this to be the pick of the litter of wading / rain jackets.
Beyond all the pockets and more zippers than a Virginia road map, the jacket is very personable.
Meaning that un.ike most 'highly technical' jackets this G4 rain coat feels like an old friend the day You put it on.
Only oversight in design from my 30+ days in the jacket: The pockets lack drain holes.

Bought this great jacket and it held up to all expectations.
If you get out in the elements you should own one.
Tons of storage, zippers hold up well and very comfortable.
