GORE-TEX® Wader Care
The #1 tip to prolonging the life of a wader is drying your waders. It is important to dry your waders out after each use. We recommend drying the inside first (if damp) and then the outside. When drying the outside you can pull your gravel guards up until the feet are dry and then flip them down to dry the rest of the wader
Use a front load machine or hand wash. Use cold water and normal detergent that does not contain bleach. Once you have washed the waders make sure you dry them properly start by drying the inside first. Never put your waders in the dryer, the heat will adversely affect the seam tape on your waders and will void your warranty.
We offer more sizes than anyone, a good fit goes a long way to extending the life of your wader. Make it clear that people should use their exact measurements as we have already provided extra room for layering and movement.
Do not store inside your car for long periods of time excess heat will damage your waders.
USE A MAT
Always put your waders on using a protective mat to shield the neoprene feet from rocks.
Do not wear jeans under your waders. Jeans are highly abrasive wearing on your waders from the inside out. More importantly jeans and sweatpants do not transfer moisture away from the body. Use proper layering (to view our layering collection, go here). Using layers such as these will help wick moisture away from your body and assist in the waders ability to breathe.
Most stain removers will work fine on our waders. As long as the stain remover does not contain bleach you should be o.k.

Longevity ReviewOn the internet all we see is 'unboxing' reviews. How about a longevity review? I bought my G3s' 6 years ago. Before upgrading to Simms every other year no matter what brand I got, I had a wet foot or wet leg, and in upper 40 and 50 degree winter water that's cold and annoying. 6 years ago I bit the bullet and sprung for the G3's. Best investment I've made in relation to comfort and confidence that my gear will WORK and keep me dry and warm. When you're warm and dry you make better decisions and you fish where the fish are instead of fishing by the ramp because you're scared your gear will fail. Finally after 6 years I think I have a pin hole that needs repairing and a slow leak at 1 seam - that's after six years. That would be worth 3 pairs of other brands. And here's the deal, I'll send them in for repair and they'll fix the leaks and I'll probably get another 2 -3 years out of them. I don't baby stuff, I'm rough on gear, and I rarely do the maintenance the other guys say we should. I take them off after I wade and only rinse them when I store them for the summer. I do keep them in the house hung on a coat hanger in the entry closet because it's by the garage and I can grab them on the way out when it's wading season again. Solid, SOLID product and well worth every penny, truly these save you money in the end compared to other brands.
Simms waders are simply the bestI couldn't afford Simms waders when I was younger. Kids and bills always came first. But for the past ten years Simms waders are all I will buy. I had a pair of convertible waders last six seasons of hard use. I'm not on the river 100 days, but appreciate that Simms will hold up and keep you dry. I've sent several of my sons Simms waders back for repair. Service is always fast and charges are very reasonable. And they make sizes to fit everyone. Step up to Simms. You'll be pleased you did.
finallyFor more years than I care to think of I have put up with inferior waders not anymore! These are as close to perfect as it gets.
Simply the bestI purchased my G3's in 2013. Prior to this, I was going through waders every 3 years. Finally got over the price issue and made the purchase. Best decision ever. First off ... sized to fit which you don't get in most waders. This is really important so you can minimize drag in the water by having tighter fit. Second, construction. My waders have been through all kinds of situations. Breaking brush trails, in and out of guide boats, kneeling on the ground. And they look well worn. Not one single issue in construction, leaks anything. I've worn them so much now the rock guards are getting thin and starting to fray.
Bottom line, if you're active in fishing, pay the price. Divided by the times you use them it's well worth it. I've also got the G3 Jacket, another 5 star purchase. Nothing like being warm and dry in terrible weather. Thanks Simms!
Great wadersI’ve had several cheap pairs of waders over the years. I did some winter fishing and got tired of the leaks. I have a couple of SIMMS products and friends have SIMMS waders and highly recommended them. From the moment I tried them on I could feel a difference in the material, workmanship and fit. I used them this last weekend fishing streams and a lake while sitting in a pontoon boat.
Whether on a stream or in the boat these waders were comfortable, easy to move in, quality of workmanship is evident.
I’m very happy with them and would recommend them. They are on the pricey side but I think they are worth it.
Tough EnoughI have been a saltwater fishing guide for many years and used numerous brands of waders. I'm pretty hard on fishing gear but the G3's have really held up. I have to admit, these are by far the best waders I have ever owned. Quality, durability, comfort, you can't beat them. I would definitely recommend them to anyone. Thumbs up from Captain Dave.
Not worth the priceThis follow review is some constructive criticism. Please don't mistake this for a vitriolic, trollish comment. I originally bought the G3 waders in January of 2017. I've have used them for 2 seasons and have been nothing but disappointed. I've had to send them in each winter for repairs (Pinhole leaks I take full accountability for). What's been most disappointing is that a leak in the boot that always occurs. I fish in Minnesota from January to November, and I can't have a wader which develops leaks in the boot by the time fall steelhead season rolls around. I bought these for their reputation, I work as a teacher, and though this were very expensive I figured the quality would be great investment. However, they have been disastrous. Don't get me wrong, the customer service is fabulous and I like other Simms products.
Leaked early on and repairs seem weak.I purchased a pair of these waders in October 2018 and, on their second time out just over a month later, they leaked pretty steadily. I sent them back for repair since they were just outside of the replacement window. When they were returned, all that had been done was a small amount of clear sealant was smeared on the inside to seal some pinholes, which doesn’t seem very durable. Based on my experience with other Simms products, I had hoped that these waders would be my reliable go-to pair, but I’m disappointed in both the quality and the repairs. At this price point, I could have bought five pairs at a big box store that leak just as well.
SIMMS CUSTOMER SERVICE:
We're very sorry to hear of your disappointing experience with one of our premium USA-made waders. Our hope is the one-year free repair window is sufficient to catch any possible issues where a defect in manufacturing or materials has been uncovered. Our repair center testing protocol is pretty thorough for waders that return with pinhole leaks. We use an alcohol bath to locate every possible pinhole. We've tested the application of Aquaseal extensively and have verified the toughness of that repair for pinhole leaks. And we fill each repaired wader with water and hang for an extended period of time to test the repair. The only threat to any repair - patch or Aquaseal - is abrasion from what you wear under the wader, which is why recommend fleece pants or thermals, which ensure that the breathable fabric performs as it's meant to, transporting body moisture to the outside of the fabric.
Simply Awesome WadersThese waders make a huge difference from mobility getting to your spots to wading through stretches of fast flowing river. I love how they don't make your feel restricted as the fit is absolutely perfect. I am 6'1 225lbs and the LK were just right. I opted to go with the LK instead of the L for a little extra room to allow for layering in the winter months. The details in these waders set them apart. The suspender buckles make hikes down to the river more enjoyable allowing you to set the waders at your waist. I couldn't be any happier with these waders.
Outstanding!I’ve been fly fishing for roughly 15 years, and after years of neoprene waders and then upgrading to other brands supposedly guide tough waders I got tired of soggy socks and wet pants at the end of my fishing day. I finally purchased my first pair of Simms waders and I’m amazed of the quality and comfort of these G3 waders! I’m 6 months into these waders with long hours on the river and several long hikes to my favorite honey holes, these waders continue to impress me. Comfortable, durable and above all I’m dry at the end of the day. Simms has found a customer for life with me and my two sons!
Outstanding fit and materialsThe fit and comfort of these waders are second to none. Materials are as well. Gore-Tex has served me well in other products and its a name I have come to trust. Really this is the best material construction money can buy. Plenty of room in the seat, knees and crotch to bend and climb through the typical 5ft bank you must encounter between the path and the river. Just love these waders.
Bullet Proof! My G3 waders are bullet proof. I'm not a guide, but the waders get wet weekly throughout the year. Every time I come home, I quickly hose them off and hang them to dry. I never leave them wadded up in a bag in the back of my car. They were expensive, so I take care of them. Literally takes me an extra 5 minutes per session.... I even wash them here and there. An extra 10 minutes... I have had them for 4 years now. I hike miles in them. I've had hooks in them - not to the barb, but still in the fabric. I've had salmon wrapped around my leg because I suck at netting... They just don't freaking leak. I think people confuse condensation on a 90 degree day in 50 degree water with leaks. Happens... breathable waders are not perfectly breathable. Way better than rubber and canvas though! I read these posts about 3 consecutive pairs of waders leaking in the first month... No way will that happen if you're taking any care at all... It's probably condensation.... I see the pictures of "leaking" waders with mold stains on them. Well, duh... wad them up in your trunk for a week in August and they are going to leak... and stink... and your wife is going to be pissed because you want another pair of $500 waders from brand X. Pretty much every major brand of wader today is pretty dang awesome. But you have to take care of them. I like Simms because they have about every size you can imagine, they are built extremely well, the Headwater, G3, G4 and Kid waders are all MADE IN THE USA creating jobs for hard working people who like to fish. Only the Freestone is made overseas... Why? so Simms can offer a competitive price point with all the other manufacturers that make their stuff in Asia. They are more comfortable than any pair of pants I wear on a daily basis. They exceed my expectations... Well done Simms! and more importantly well done to the craftsmen (and women) that work at Simms!!
Great updateLoved my old G3 Guide Waders and upgraded to the new ones this spring. The improved durability is noticeable and I love the new fabric. Go USA made. Thanks Simms!
Great Waders!!!I have waited a few years to review these waders to ensure that I am satisfied. The G3s have no failed me yet. I spend a lot of time in waders in the fall on the river and on the boat and I am thoroughly impressed with the durability and the fit. I have been Salmon/Steelheading for over 25 years and kind of upset I didn't buy these to begin with. I have probably been through 10-12 100-150 dollar waders over the years when I could have just bought these from the start!!
Hands down the best!I have owned easily over 20 pairs of waders in the past 30 years and never had much success with them lasting a solid season. These right here are the Cadillac of waders. They are very comfortable and the workmanship on them is evident on every little aspect of these. These should be the last pair I should ever have to buy. I could easily have saved thousands of dollars by buying these first :)
Fantastic!I’ll be the first to admit I’m “hard” on my gear compared to most. I fish well in excess of 150 days a year, and that In itself will test even the best on the market. I recently picked up a pair of the G3’s (first pair of Simms waders) and am absolutely in love. The fit and finish is outstanding. My only gripe is the inner pocket not being waterproof, but it’s a very minor issue as I don’t plan on taking a swim anytime soon!
Great fit and feelHad a hard time pulling the trigger on these - just too rich for my blood, but my wife bought them for me as a birthday gift and I will never buy any other brand after experiencing the fit and comfort of Simms. I don't even feel like I am wearing waders while in the water except that they keep me dry - very comfortable allowing me to bend, stoop, and step up and down without feeling like I am going to get pulled over . Great job Simms!
Awesome WaderFits nice and seams are perfect. Simms has awesome customer service and quality products. Last waders manufacturer in the USA.
Love them, but...I love these waders, they're super comfortable and have stood up to some pretty tough adventures. One thing that could improve on the design of these waders is a completely waterproof inner pouch, one that doesn't get wet if a little water gets in the top of waders.
Thanks for the feedback Will. We do offer the "Waterproof Wader Pouch" that will interface with the zip-in system on G3 Guide Waders (and others.) Sounds like you're suggesting that this is an included feature. That's a good call.
Amazing WaderI'm really impressed with the durability and comfort of these waders.
FantasticI own all sorts of Simms gear from jackets to base layers, boots and luggage. This is my first pair of Simms Waders. They are absolutely fantastic! The fit is like no other wader and it’s worth visiting a retailer to get the correct size. The fabric of the wader is beautifully soft, light and ‘silent’ when wearing. I’m slim and bought a pair size SK. The booties were too small and for a very reasonable price we’re customised to a larger bootie by Simms. I live and fish in Scotland and this was fascilitated by Simms in a few weeks. I can’t recommend this product and company enough!
