Wader Care

These waders are breathable though not as breathable as GORE-TEX®. They do not have the same properties as GORE-TEX® and therefore finding pinholes will not be possible using the alcohol test. Care for all Simms waders as you would a GORE-TEX® wader. Make sure to dry them out after use and do not wear jeans, and never use a dryer to dry them.
We are not able to replace the feet on these waders. We are only able to put custom feet on GORE-TEX® waders.
Washing - Use a front load machine or hand wash. Use cold water and normal detergent that does not contain bleach. Once you have washed the waders make sure you dry them properly start by drying the inside first. Never put your waders in the dryer, the heat will adversely affect the seam tape on your waders and will void your warranty.

  1. Warm Feet in Antarctic Ice Water

    100%

These are my first waders and I lucked into the best. I'm a zodiac driver and guide in Antarctica (as well as whale watching captain in California, minus the waders), and was thrilled to discover these on my first visit to Bass Pro Shops. The women's XL waders fit my 5'10" 165lb frame, though I wouldn't mind a little more length to allow room to bend at the knees and waist. Paired with men's Freestone Wading Boots, fully two sizes larger than my shoe size, with thin wool liner socks and super-thick winter wading socks, my toes have room to wiggle and keep good circulation. There's room for stick-on toe warmers outside the liner socks, and yet the fit and support of the boots were snug and comfortable enough to climb a 1500' island peak in snow and scree, even with wet feet after wading among ice chunks holding zodiacs for guests at the landing site. I wore two layers of thick thermal fleece tights, or one pair of fleece tights and a looser pair of synthetic fleece pants under the waders. Needless to say this is not a fishing review but I'm sold on the quality, fit, and comfort — not to mention the style. The feel of the fabric is lovely, and the gray tones and styling details are excellent. One tiny thing I'd improve is a way for the belt ends to stay handy and easy to re-clip once unbuckled, because while getting them off and on again the belt falls out of the belt loops if it's adjusted for fit. The Alaskan fishing guides I work with say they call Simms the best and now I see why. Thank you! Now I have to come up with more reasons to get wet.
  2. dreaming of using them

    100%

I have not used. brand new hanging in my closet! First time I have had waders and I am looking forward to getting out there as soon as the ice comes off the rivers.
What do you women wear under them? Hope I have the right size. thanks.

    EMILY, CUSTOMER SERVICE:
We're psyched that your psyched! Hope you have a great season. As these are breathable waders, we recommend a similarly breathable fabric be worn under your waders. And the layer should not have seams or rivets or similar that can wear the wader from the inside out. Most of our women staff and guides wear our Coldweather Pant, especially for a good chunk of the season when temps are coolish. You can see that pant here: https://www.simmsfishing.com/shop/women-s/womens-bottoms/women-s-coldweather-pant-f17 Just don't wear jeans: That's a sure sign you're a newbie and they'll hold enough moisture you'll swear your waders are leaking!
