Crank on the oars, pole into a head-on wind toward tails at 11, and give your hands hope against harmful UV rays with Simms' guide-approved gloves. SolarFlex® Guide Gloves feature plush UPF 50 stretch fabric on the back of the hand, full-coverage cuffs, and water-resistant goat leather palms. Added material bolsters protection in the index and middle fingers, while pairing snaps ensure your gloves stay connected when not in use.
At Simms, sun protection is a critical component of our sportswear offering. Through a combination of fabric construction, design and finish, we offer a wide range of clothing that features a minimum UPF of 30 (very good) up to UPF of 50 (excellent). UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates how much of the sun's UV radiation is absorbed. A fabric with a rating of 50 will allow only 1/50th of the sun's UV rays to pass through. This means the fabric will reduce your skin's UV radiation exposure significantly. All of our UPF finishes last the life of the garment, an industry standard of 30 washings.

I have owned and abused these gloves for a couple years. I not only use them for fishing

I bought a pair to use while fishing from a kayak. I was looking for a glove that would help eliminate UV exposure, help reduce fatigue from paddling, yet allow me to tie knots and work with rigging without losing dexterity. I understand some of the finger length issues that other have had, but I personally love these gloves. I would recommend them to anyone that does a lot of paddling/fishing.

Let me start by saying I use the gloves to fish for trout, using very thin line.
I actually cut the index finger back with scissors.
By having the line ride over the glove material, I felt like I lost a lot of feel. If I had thicker line and if I was fishing for larger fish, maybe I wouldn't miss the loss of feel.
Also, I couldn't tie knots very well with the long extension.
Once I cut back the finger I was very happy.

I've used these three times at Pyramid Lake. Disappointed with the length of middle and index finger guards. I had to keep pulling the glove fingers out over the knuckle after the first two or three casts. Now it is every time. My hand size is in spec with your size chart. I notice these same complaints go back a few years. Maybe you should invest more R

Use on blue water trip and had to use stripping guards because index and middle half finger started ride down. Needs full finger for index and middle glove fingers

I took these gloves on a 2 day blue water fishing trip off of Palm Beach. The gloves work well enough, but the 10 to 12 weight lines would line up on my fingers just above the half finger glove. I would suggest making the pointing finger and middle finger a full finger on the gloves.

I got a pair for the start of the steelhead season. They're great. They dry quickly and my hands are in great shape for having 70+ days on the water..that being said after 4 weeks I had to send them back. Max from customer service had a new pair out to me that same day. The new ones are already being worked hard and I see the seams failing again... I think the normal dude who's on the water 2 or 3 days a week they would be great. But as a guide I'd pass.
