Product Care

  • Most anglers have experienced a windblown day on the water - many including rain, sleet or snow. Any one of these elements might be enough to drive you inside if you aren’t wearing the proper gear. WINDSTOPPER® fabrics include two key features to make your fishing experience more comfortable:
    - Total windproof protection. WINDSTOPPER® membrane blocks 100% of blowing wind. - All Simms WINDSTOPPER® fabrics feature DWR to keep water absorption to the absolute minimum - even with lofty fleece.

Good jacket for stopping the winds. HOWEVER, terrible jacket in the rain. NOT water proof and should not be considered a complete fishing jacket. This is the only fishing jacket I have ever purchased that implied water proof but was not water proof at all. I found out the hard way. Steelheading in a medium down pour. Half way through the day I realized I was getting wet. Bummer to say the least. By the end of the day arms and shoulders were completely soaked. Should have stuck with Patagonia. They should explicitly say it is not a rain coat instead of implying that it stops the rain as well.

Thank you for taking the time to review this product, steelheader. We would not recommend that you use this product as a waterproof shell, as it is intended to be a windstopper layer. Everyone Should Own One Review by Obviousman

Obviousman 12/20/2015

The windproof jackets are something everyone should have in their closet.
I rely on tghis jacket yearround as a casual jacket as well as a fishing jacket. During the colder months an additional fleece with thge built in windtsopper technology is all that I need.
The only thing that would make it better is another couple of inches in lenghth.
