Wader Care

These waders are breathable though not as breathable as GORE-TEX®. They do not have the same properties as GORE-TEX® and therefore finding pinholes will not be possible using the alcohol test. Care for all Simms waders as you would a GORE-TEX® wader. Make sure to dry them out after use and do not wear jeans, and never use a dryer to dry them.
We are not able to replace the feet on these waders. We are only able to put custom feet on GORE-TEX® waders.
Washing - Use a front load machine or hand wash. Use cold water and normal detergent that does not contain bleach. Once you have washed the waders make sure you dry them properly start by drying the inside first. Never put your waders in the dryer, the heat will adversely affect the seam tape on your waders and will void your warranty.

  1. Freestone problem

The waders themselves are good, but the stocking feet are so huge, I cannot fit my feet into my wading shoes with all that excess neoprene. I wear a large to accommodate my bust and the hips are nice and loose, but Simms seems to think that if you're a size L, you must have giant paws for feet So, now, I either have to wear my husbands wading shoes with that particular pair of waders, or send them back to Simms and have smaller stocking feet put on, or buy a larger pair of wading shoes.... The feet on these could've accommodated a women's size 12, maybe more!

Sorry to hear you were disappointed in the sizing. We try to accommodate all sizes within the 10 stock sizes we offer in the Freestone series, which admittedly is an impossible challenge. If the size chart let you down, apologies: we'll review the info we provide there. We do offer our G3 Guide Gore-Tex wader in 13 sizes (more expensive, admittedly). Additionally, we can customize any size GORE-TEX wader with any size neoprene bootie that works for you. That way you can size the upper to your needs and choose the exact foot size that works best. Call (888) 585-3570 for help with that.
  2. The booties fit

I was worried the booties would be too small. I wear a size 7.5-8 shoe (on the wider side) and the small waders fit perfectly. They are comfortable and work well with my size 9 wading boots. Fantastic waders, glad I finally made the purchase!
  3. Just buy them.

I have worn out multiple waders from other brands but these hold up even in the nastiest blackberry bushes. Very durable and keep the chill out in cold weather.
  4. Too small in the HIPS

I want to give these 5 stars because I truly love them. But, the cut could use some adjusting. I have worn these for the past year and inconveniently my hips have outgrown the waders. I loved their performance enough that I ordered a new pair in the next size up. Now the hips (sort of) fit a little better, but the top opening is HUGE and baggy and bulky and in the way and there is no draw cord like on other brands. It's weird to me that the size chart shows the hips as the largest dimension but they are not cut that way at all. Also disappointing that you have to upgrade to the GUIDE waders ($500!!!) to get all the size options like XL Full. Major bummer!!! I am going to return my new pair and keep shopping some other brands.
  5. Built tough, look and feel good, correct fit.

I'm very please how these waders held up my first use, which was a true test of the rugged construction. My son had me climbing up and down soft soiled cliffs, etc. The sizing is pretty much right on. I purchased the XL
and they fit as I was hoping the 16/18 reference said. Comfort, fit and dry make for fun days on the stream. I'll be a regular Simms customer.
  6. Fit REALLY Small

Good quality and all but the sizing is so off. I am 5'0, about 120 pounds, with a size 5 foot. I have the "small full" size and they're so tight. I think I would have to weigh about 90 pounds for these to fit properly. I cannot move up to a medium because the foot is huge. I asked to return them but couldn't because the tags were off.
  7. comfy

Good fit, good material; looking forward to many years of fly fishing in these.
  8. Water was entering by the second use.

I purchased these waders in 2015. I have only used them 3 times since then. By the second time of use water was already coming in to the waders. I'm now having to pay for repair plus shipping all the way from Alaska. For $260 these should be way more durable. Very disappointed in my purchase and Simms.
  9. Reasonable and fit well!

Just bought these recently! I love them and are perfect on the river! Hopefully, the bootie will fit into my wading boots since I ordered a size bigger than my regular shoe size.
  10. Not flattering

I do not know who you used to model these but someone did not realize that just because someone has small feet they are a size small. I got the size medium and I am 5'3 and 130lbs and I could not easily pull these over my hips. I do not have huge hips and usually a medium is just fine. The large were good except in the bootie where I had tons of bulk and then my boots don't fit. I ended up moving to patagonia since their womens waders take into account body and shoe size. I would not suggest these unless you are as stick figured woman.

  11. Love these waders but they run small.

We LOVE these waders. They are fashion conscious, look great with the teal color and well made. Watch the sizing.

Purchased these waders in a large but had to go up to an X-large in order to fit any xtra layering of clothes underneath for winter fishing. My friend wears a small/medium normally and she had to go up to the large for the same reason.

The zip in a tippett pouch is a must. Best waders I have ever owned!!!.

  12. Like 'em

No they don't breathe well but... I'd rather be a little hot than have a tiny bit of cold water running down my legs all the time... Which ALWAYS happens with all other waders I've owned... And I've gone thru all premium manufacturers and models.. Including Simms...Trust me.. These don't leak or not yet. I'm in the water all the time. That's what I do. So far.. These are water tight. Fit is awesome for me.. 5'2 118 lbs. I love them so far.
  13. Flattering and functional, but need more bootie size options

I am new to fly fishing and wanted boots and waders I could feel confident in and that were also flattering to the female form. I thoroughly researched all different brands and models of women's apparel, and finally settled on Simms. I purchased the Simms Freestone waders (size M) and the Simms Vapor Boots (size 9). I normally fit perfectly into a size 8.5 shoe. In my local fly shop, I was able to try on a variety of sizes. According to the size chart, my measurements (34, 27, 36) aligned with a size S waders, except in the feet. Size S offers only a size 6-7 bootie. Just as the size chart suggested, the S felt perfect everywhere, leaving enough room to layer comfortably underneath, but the neoprene of the wader booties was a bit too tight. Moving up to the waders in a size M (8-9 foot), the booties actually feel a size too large, and the waders themselves are roomy (especially on top), even with a warm layer underneath. Fortunately, though, the wader belt cinches well enough to prevent a Bozo The Clown look. There is enough vertical room to bend and flex comfortably, and the suspenders allow for a customized torso length. While the reversible suspender buckles do allow an easy conversion from chest to waist waders, I find it easy enough to simply fold the top of the waders down to my waist if I am feeling warm with them up. They are breathable enough to maintain a comfortable body temp, both in the (not too cold) stream and out with just shorts, but I do recommend a light base layer to prevent sweat sticking to you and making you feel like you're wearing a trash bag. With the M waders, the size 9 boots fit quite well. The gravel guard loop on the Vapor boots is in the perfect location for the hook on the Freestone waders, and when combined, my feet stayed nice and dry. The waders are easy to get in and out of, and the neoprene dries rather quickly, so you can easily store them in a vented bag for travel. To top it all off, the color combination is rather flattering, especially when combined with the Freestone waders. Trying them on in the shop got quite a few compliment from the other female customers. My only real recommendation to Simms is to offer different options of bootie sizes attached to the waders, as I would have preferred a size S, but my feet would have been uncomfortable, and we all know the importance of foot comfort on the stream.
