After more than 40 years designing technical fishing outerwear, Simms set out to build a foul-weather suit for anglers who routinely fish big, rough water — where staying dry isn’t just about what’s falling from the sky. The end result — the toughest foul-weather suit we’ve ever made, period.
QuadraShed: Four Layers of Protection
At the heart of the Rip Line PRO Jacket and Bib is an entirely new proprietary 4-layer waterproof QuadraShed fabric package, engineered to withstand the kind of abuse offshore fishing dishes out. And every layer serves its own unique purpose.
On the outside, a durable PU coating creates a water-shedding barrier that takes on salt spray, fish slime, blood, and everything else that comes with working a busy deck. At the end of the day, hose it down and get it ready to go again.
Beneath it, a heavier-denier textile really amps up the durability, adding tear strength and puncture resistance
The third layer is where Rip Line PRO adds a second layer of waterproof protection. Two waterproof layers mean the fabric doesn't rely on a single line of defense to keep water out — an intentionally redundant system built for an environment where staying dry isn't just about rain.
Finally, an abrasion-resistant interior backer protects the fabric from wear on the inside while allowing layers underneath to move more freely against the suit.

Rip Line PRO Jacket
QuadraShed is no doubt a huge part of what makes Rip Line PRO different. However, it takes more than great fabric to build a great foul-weather suit.
The Rip Line PRO Jacket pairs QuadraShed with a storm flap that protects a heavy-duty YKK Vislon center-front zipper. A 3-point adjustable storm hood and high-protection collar help seal out wind, rain, and spray while maintaining the peripheral vision you need when you're running a boat or working the deck.
At the wrists, a shingle-style cuff system uses adjustable neoprene on the inside to cinch down and help lock water out, while the jacket shell hangs over the top to shed water away from the opening. It’s a simple but effective setup when your hands are constantly in and out of bait wells, releasing fish, or otherwise getting wet.
Rip Line PRO Bib
The Rip Line PRO Bib carries the same dual waterproof QuadraShed 4-layer protection below the waist, where boat decks, gunwales, and hard use demand durability.
A heavy-duty center-front zipper allows easy on/off, while an integrated storm flap adds another layer of protection over one of the suit's most exposed areas.
The suspender system uses a breathable and ergonomic spacer mesh harness, and quick-adjust cam-locking suspender hardware lets anglers make adjustments on the fly.
Why Simms? Why Offshore? Why Now?
We get it. Our roots are in mountain trout fishing. That’s where Simms started, and it will always be core to who we are.
However, after more than 40 years of designing and developing waders and technical outerwear, we’ve learned a thing or two. Over that time, experience has taken us well beyond where we started. Keeping anglers dry, comfortable, and protected in unforgiving conditions has become something of a comfort zone for us. Rip Line PRO is the next step in that evolution. It takes everything we’ve learned over four decades of technical product development and applies it to a different kind of fishing — building a better foul-weather solution for anglers who fish big, rough water.
But stepping into the offshore community also meant doing our homework.
Captains, mates and offshore anglers don’t need another fishing brand telling them what they need. They need gear designed around how they actually work and how they fish.
